Meet Kristy Kay

I’m Kristy Kay, indie fantasy author, worldbuilder, lifelong dreamer, and creator of The Guardians Series. I write emotionally charged fantasy filled with ancient realms, fractured balance, powerful women, dangerous magic, found family, dragons, phoenix fire, and the quiet truth that even broken people can change worlds.

Stories have always felt like portals to me. Not escapes from the world, but hidden doorways beneath it. The kind that crack open when life feels heavy, when hope flickers low, or when you need to believe there’s still magic buried somewhere in the dark.

At the heart of my stories is one question:

What happens when ordinary people are forced to carry extraordinary destinies?

When I’m not writing, you’ll usually find me surrounded by animals, lost in music, chasing new creative obsessions, or building pieces of the worlds living inside my head. I have a heart for rescue and have rescued many dogs and cats throughout the years, some I have kept and others have gone to new furever homes. We currently have four rambunctious pitbull mixes and five curious kittens. You will meet many of them throughout our journey together since they have inspired a few familiars and even a character or two.

Family is everything to me, and that heartbeat of loyalty, love, sacrifice, and resilience lives inside every story I tell. I have raised two beautiful human beings who have such amazing hearts. They have always been huge cheerleaders for me along my writing journey, they are my reason why, and how I can keep going on days that just get a little hard. As a huge fantasy lover himself, my son has helped me develop areas in the book that needed a bit more bulking up and reigned in my insanity. As a creative soul, my daughter has taken my words and created actual visual images of my characters, familiars, and different elements that will truly make this an work of pure art.
